Arlington residents have two fresh reasons to get outside and enjoy their parks this summer, as the city marked a pair of exciting improvements to its green spaces in the same week.
On Wednesday, June 25, the City of Arlington held a dedication ceremony for the Clete McAlister Trail at Veterans Park. The new trail honors its namesake and gives walkers, joggers, and cyclists another welcoming route to explore within one of the city’s beloved park spaces.
Just a day earlier, the city announced that a brand-new community mini-pitch is on its way to George Stevens Park. Mini-pitches — compact, multi-use courts designed for soccer and other sports — are popular gathering spots that give kids and adults alike a place to play, compete, and connect with neighbors. A dedication event for the George Stevens Park mini-pitch was also announced, signaling that the new facility is nearly ready for the community to enjoy.
Together, the two additions reflect Arlington’s ongoing commitment to expanding recreational opportunities across the city. Whether you’re lacing up your running shoes for a stroll along the new trail or gearing up for a pickup soccer match, there’s something new waiting for you in Arlington’s parks this season.
