The Wylie Pirates have had a successful spring sports season, with their baseball, softball, and track teams all achieving notable accomplishments. The baseball team, after starting the season with a 2-7 record, turned things around and finished with a 20-15 overall record, qualifying for the playoffs for the second consecutive year.
Baseball
The Pirates went 12-4 in District 9-6A play and had a thrilling 11-8 victory over district champion Rowlett. In the playoffs, Wylie gave a strong performance against Rockwall, taking Game 1 with a 3-2 win, but ultimately lost the series 2-1.
Softball
The Wylie softball team had an impressive season, winning 15 consecutive district games and avenging their earlier loss to Sachse with a 6-5 win. However, the Pirates were unable to carry their momentum into the playoffs, losing both games to Royse City in the bi-district round.
Track and Field
The Wylie track and field team had several athletes compete in the Region II-6A meet in Waco, with multiple school records broken throughout the season. The team crowned four district champions, all on the boys’ side, and had several athletes advance to the regional meet.
