The San Gabriel Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District will conduct mosquito control treatments in portions of Monterey Park to reduce mosquito populations and lower the risk of mosquito-borne disease transmission.
Treatment Details
Truck-mounted mosquito control treatments are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday between midnight and 5 a.m. The treatments will take place in an area bounded by West Floral Drive and the 60 Freeway, east of Vancouver Avenue and west of Collegian Avenue.
According to officials, the applications are intended to target adult mosquito populations that pose a significant public health risk. The district will be applying Aquaduet, which contains Sumithrin and Prallethrin, active ingredients formulated to mimic the properties in chrysanthemum flowers.
Residents in the treatment area will be notified through posted notices, social media, Nextdoor, and local news outlets. Officials urged residents to help reduce mosquito populations by eliminating standing water in containers and by properly maintaining swimming pools, spas, and ponds.
