Broken Arrow Football Season Nears

Football season is almost here, and expectations are high once again for the Broken Arrow Tigers as they prepare for the 2026 campaign under second-year head coach Travis Hill.

After finishing 9-3 last season and making significant progress during Hill’s first year at the helm, the Tigers return an experienced roster with hopes of competing for a Class 6A-I championship. With six offensive starters and seven defensive starters returning, Broken Arrow enters the season with both talent and continuity.

Momentum Building

Hill believes this year’s team has the opportunity to build upon last season’s success.

Throughout the offseason, players have participated in strength and conditioning workouts, summer camps and seven-on-seven competitions designed to prepare for another demanding schedule. Coaches say the team has embraced the culture and standards being established throughout the program.

Players to Watch

The Tigers return several standout athletes who will be counted on to lead the team this fall.

  • Semaj Stanford – Oregon commit and one of Oklahoma’s premier two-way players.
  • Kason Isham – Senior offensive lineman anchoring the offensive front.
  • Octavian Roberson – Senior running back expected to lead the rushing attack.
  • Payton Lang, Zane Matthews and Joseph Williams – A talented receiving corps capable of stretching opposing defenses.
  • Malik Ross, Colton Barlow and Jackson Ayers – Veteran defensive leaders returning to a unit loaded with experience.

Hill has called Stanford “one of the best football players in Oklahoma,” and the Tigers expect their veteran leadership to set the tone throughout the season.

Tough Schedule Ahead

Broken Arrow will once again face one of the toughest schedules in Oklahoma.

The Tigers open the regular season at home on August 28 against Springdale Har-Ber before traveling to face longtime rival Union the following week.

District play includes matchups against:

  • Owasso
  • Edmond Memorial
  • Westmoore
  • Mustang
  • Southmoore
  • Bixby
  • Edmond North

The annual showdown with Bixby on October 30 is expected to once again be one of the state’s marquee high school football games.

Community Excitement Returns

Few events bring Broken Arrow together like Friday night football.

From the Tiger Pride marching band and cheerleaders to packed student sections and thousands of fans filling Memorial Stadium, game nights remain one of the city’s biggest traditions.

Season ticket renewals are already underway, and excitement continues to build as kickoff draws closer.

Championship Expectations

With an experienced roster, established coaching staff and several Division I prospects returning, the Tigers believe they have the pieces needed to make another deep playoff run.

If Broken Arrow continues to improve throughout the season, local fans could be watching one of the state’s top contenders take the field every Friday night this fall.
