The US Open Golf Tournament is a 72-hole golf championship and one of the four Grand Slam golf tournaments. The 126th US Open is scheduled to take place at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York, from June 18-21, 2026.

The US Open invites professional or amateur golfers with a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 0.4. There are 156 players in the US Open, comprising place-winners in the Sectional Qualifying Rounds and those exempt from the qualifying rounds.
Most wins – Four golfers have won the US Open four times: Willie Anderson, Bob Jones, Ben Hogan, and Jack Nicklaus. The youngest winner was John J. McDermott, who won at 19 years old in 1911, while the oldest winner was Hale Irwin, who won at 45 years old in 1990.
The US Open has a rich history, with the first tournament taking place on October 4, 1895, at Newport Golf and Country Club in Newport, Rhode Island. Horace Rawlins, a course assistant, won the tournament and received $150.
