The city of Tuscaloosa is providing extra options for disposing of household waste during the student move-in season. With classes at the University of Alabama set to begin on August 19th, tens of thousands of students are preparing to move to or from the city.
Move-In Season Preparations
To accommodate the increased waste, the city has placed 10 additional roll-off dumpsters at locations around the student housing corridor. These dumpsters will be available for a little over a month, from July 20 through August 24, and are strictly for residential use.
The dumpsters are marked with move-in/move-out signage, and residents are required to place all debris inside the dumpsters, not on the ground around them. Locations include 893 Parkview Drive, Cloverdale Drive at Meador Drive, and several other sites near student housing.
In addition to the extra dumpsters, the city reminds residents that cardboard boxes, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and mixed paper can be recycled in blue curbside recycling bins or drop-off recycling trailers. Electronics can be recycled at the Environmental Services Facility at 3440 Reese Phifer Avenue, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
