Dallas, Texas – In the Texas Senate race, Democratic candidate James Talarico has dominated the air war, spending significantly more on advertising than his Republican opponent, Ken Paxton. According to data from AdImpact, an ad tracking firm, Talarico’s campaign and supporting groups spent $2.5 million on ads between May 27 and June 23.
Advertising Spending Disparity
In contrast, Paxton and groups backing him spent about $94,500 on advertising during the same period. Notably, almost all of Talarico’s spending came directly from his campaign, while Paxton’s campaign paid for about 60% of the ad spending in his favor.
Paxton has not been entirely absent from the campaign trail, appearing on Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s new podcast, appealing to viewers on Fox News, and headlining the state Republican convention in Houston. Following Paxton’s victory in the GOP runoff, Talarico’s campaign experienced a fundraising surge, bringing in over $3 million in donations.
