Vehicle Features and Benefits
Corey Amidon, Director of the General Services Department, highlighted the vehicle’s features, which include a front brush guard, side steps, and a custom aluminum Stonewell box at the rear. This box is designed to store essential supplies and equipment for fire department staff, boasting a service life of approximately 20 years and the flexibility to be used across multiple vehicles.
Amidon also noted that the vehicle will remain stationed at the fire department full-time, except during specific training events, ensuring that it is always ready for emergency response. The vehicle will not be used for personal purposes by the fire chief.
Strategic Timing
The timing of the purchase is strategic, as it allows the city to circumvent long lead times associated with vehicle procurement and the production of the Stonewell box. Once procured, the vehicle will be sent to a facility for custom fitting with the box, a process that may take up to a year.
