PGA Tour Pro Makes Costly Mistake

PGA Tour winner Adam Svensson made a costly mistake during his U.S. Open qualifier in Ontario, Canada. The mistake occurred during an eight-player playoff with three spots in the year’s third major up for grabs.

Playoff Mistake

Svensson was battling for the final automatic spot with Mx McGreevy and Matt Wallace. McGreevy earned the spot with a birdie on the playoff hole, leaving Svensson and Wallace to compete for the first alternate position.

Svensson mistakenly picked up his ball, thinking the playoff was over, and gifted Wallace the first alternate position. This mistake may cost Svensson a spot in the U.S. Open, as Wallace is likely to get in as the first alternate due to other players withdrawing from the event.
