Peregrine Coffee Roasters, originally a coffee roastery from Colorado, has opened a new location in Richardson, Texas, within the Communion Neighborhood Cooperative. This new venture replaces the former Communion Coffee Shop, bringing a fresh yet familiar coffee experience to the local community.

According to Holmes, a representative of Peregrine, the company aims to maintain its core values of community and quality. ‘Community has always been central to what we do, and our goal is to bring that same slower-paced, hospitality-driven experience into the Dallas area without losing the quality and cafe that built the company originally,’ Holmes stated.

Focus on Quality and Craftsmanship

Peregrine Coffee Roasters prides itself on ‘black coffee done right,’ emphasizing the importance of sourcing, roasting, and preparing espresso offerings with care. The shop avoids artificial ingredients, opting instead to create almost everything in-house, including handmade syrups, fresh-brewed chai, and in-house caramel. Holmes noted, ‘It’s a far more labor-intensive process, but we know people can genuinely taste the difference.’

The menu features specialty coffees such as the blood orange vanilla latte and blood orange mocha, along with the unique ‘thunderbolt,’ a sparkling vanilla espresso lemonade. In addition to coffee, the shop offers cream sodas, lemonades, and fresh-juiced ginger beer. Customers can also purchase bags of whole bean coffee both in-store and online, with grinding services available upon request.

Future Plans and Community Engagement

Looking ahead, Peregrine plans to collaborate with the neighboring Lockwood Distilling Company on a new barrel-aged coffee project. The company also aims to expand its roasting operations in Richardson, with a vision of establishing this location as a larger hub for Peregrine in the Dallas area. This expansion will include roasting, collaborative events, and an expanded range of coffee offerings.
