A sledding incident in Frisco on Sunday afternoon left one teenager dead and another in critical condition.
According to Frisco police, a 16-year-old male was driving a Jeep and towing two people on a sled near Majestic Gardens Drive and Killian Court when the incident occurred.
Witnesses reported the sled struck a curb and then collided with a tree.
Officers who responded to the scene found two 16-year-old girls suffering from life-threatening injuries resulting from the crash.
Police performed emergency, life-saving measures before both victims were taken to a nearby hospital; one of the teens later died.
Family members posting on social media and an FC Dallas coach have identified the deceased as 16-year-old Elizabeth Angle.
In a press release about the winter storm, Frisco PD reminded residents that snow and ice create very slippery conditions that can lead to severe or fatal accidents and urged people to remain cautious, stay inside when possible, and avoid unnecessary outdoor activity until conditions improve.
