A new cafe called Qahwah House will soon open in the ground-floor retail space of the Estelle New Haven apartment building on Elm Street. This will be the fourth Yemeni coffee shop to open in and around downtown New Haven in less than a year.
Qahwah House Details
Signs on the retail space’s windows indicate that Qahwah House will serve “premium organic coffee,” including Al Harrazi beans sourced from Yemen. The cafe is expected to open in the fall and will offer a variety of traditional Yemeni coffee and teas, as well as espresso drinks, pastries, and Yemeni desserts.
Qahwah House was founded in 2017 and has 27 locations across the country, including in Dearborn, Michigan; Brooklyn, New York; Columbus, Ohio; and McKinney, Texas. The cafe’s website highlights its commitment to serving high-quality, organic coffee and promoting Yemeni coffee culture.
The opening of Qahwah House is part of a larger trend of Yemeni coffee shops popping up in Connecticut. Other Yemeni coffee shops in the area include Arwa Coffee, M2 Mocha, and Jabal Coffee House, which is slated to open this year.
