Michael Kim made history with an exclamation point on Friday at the 3M Open. Kim, 33, was going for just the 16th sub-60 round (59) in PGA Tour history heading into the 18th hole.
A Historic Moment
Kim’s wedge shot from the fairway on the par-5 18th rolled to the fringe of the green, leaving him 24 feet away from making a birdie and adding his name to the history books. He certainly did not leave it short as Kim buried it in the bottom of the cup and then gave a few huge fist pumps in celebration.
Going into the last couple of holes, Kim knew what was at stake and wanted to give himself a shot at making the record books. He ended his round with four straight birdies. Kim was impeccable with his putter as eight of his 11 birdies were from more than 10 feet away.
