For local patients, having care close to home makes a world of difference. The Cancer Stories series shares the real experiences of patients from our community, documenting the challenging and often complex journey to healing.
A Personal Story
Brad and Jeannette Boner, residents of Victor, ID, know this journey all too well. In September 2025, Brad was diagnosed with cancer after noticing an unusual bump on his abdomen. The news was a shock, and their lives were forever changed.
Brad’s treatment required multiple surgeries and radiation appointments, often necessitating long trips away from home. Jeannette found herself juggling new roles as a care advocate, logistics coordinator, and travel planner, all while caring for their two children, Will and Adeline.
Through these challenges, the Boners’ relationship with their care team at St. John’s Health has been a meaningful bright spot. Led by oncologist Dr. Melissa Cohen, Brad’s team has provided care that Jeannette describes as ‘so intimate and so personal.’ The team’s efforts to bring care closer to home have made a significant difference for the Boners, allowing Brad to access vital care via telehealth and reducing the need for frequent travel.
