As summer approaches, South Texas Blood & Tissue, one of the region’s largest blood suppliers, is facing a shortage of blood donations. The organization helps keep more than 100 area hospitals and health care providers stocked and ready.

Donation Needs

One pint of blood can help save up to three lives, and every blood type is needed. KSAT Community will host a blood donor registration drive for South Texas Blood & Tissue on Tuesday, June 30, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Representatives from South Texas Blood & Tissue will be on hand to answer questions and help callers register to donate. Blood collected locally stays in the region or can be sent wherever needed in an emergency.

Those interested in doing more can consider becoming a blood drive coordinator and organizing a drive at a neighborhood location, community group, or workplace. South Texas Blood & Tissue is looking for donors who meet certain requirements.
