Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake

Nintendo of America has released a teaser trailer for the highly anticipated remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, confirming its release in 2026. The original game, released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, is still widely regarded as one of the greatest video games of all time.

A Timeless Classic

The Zelda series’ first foray into 3D gaming introduced innovative gameplay mechanics and a timeless story, earning it a 99/100 rating on Metacritic. However, with the game approaching its 30th anniversary, many gamers have never experienced the wonder of Ocarina of Time.

A remake for the Nintendo 3DS was released in 2011, but fans have been clamoring for a full-blown, HD remake for a next-generation console. The teaser trailer, released on Nintendo’s official X account, has sparked a mixed reaction from fans, with some excited for the remake and others skeptical due to the lack of gameplay footage.

Fans React

The art style of the footage presented in the trailer appears more hyper-realistic compared to recent games like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. This may not sit well with some fans who prefer a different direction. As a fan of the series, the lack of gameplay footage is somewhat anticlimactic, but it’s reassuring to know that the remake is in the works.
