Indiana Michigan Power Suspends Disconnections

Indiana Michigan Power is temporarily suspending power disconnections for nonpayment as dangerous heat settles across much of the Midwest, including northeast Indiana.

Extreme Heat Prompts Suspension

According to a news release from Indiana Michigan Power, service disconnections for nonpayment will be suspended across the utility’s service territory on Wednesday, June 10, due to extreme temperatures and high heat index values. The company said it will continue monitoring weather conditions and could extend the moratorium on disconnections if dangerous heat persists.

Customers needing assistance with utility bills or payment arrangements can access resources through Indiana Michigan Power’s Bill Support Center or call 1-800-311-4634 for information on available assistance programs.

Forecasters are calling for heat index values near or above 100 degrees across portions of northeast Indiana in the coming days, prompting officials to urge residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
