Trooper Melissa Flanigan serves with the Texas Department of Public Safety. She grew up in a first responder home, with her dad in law enforcement for over 50 years and her mom a registered nurse for more than 50 years. This upbringing inspired her to pursue a career in law enforcement.
Service and Honors
Trooper Flanigan has been with the Texas Department of Public Safety for seven years and six months. She has received several honors, including the Texas Highway Patrol Honor Guard, Texas Department of Public Safety Major’s Investigative Excellence Award, and the Crime Victim Coalition of West Texas recognition of Outstanding Service on Behalf of Crime Victims.
She relies on her faith in God to deal with stressful situations and enjoys running, hiking, and camping in her free time. Trooper Flanigan regularly attends First Baptist Church Post and participates in community events, such as attending ballgames and school functions.
Her advice is to “Work hard. Talk less. Be kind. Stay humble.” Trooper Flanigan is an example of dedication and service to her community.
