A new city bus honoring Juneteenth was unveiled earlier Monday at DART Central Station in Des Moines. Organizers said the decorated bus honors the past and celebrates freedom.
The Juneteenth holiday marks the day in 1865 when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to ensure all enslaved people were finally free. The bus will be in service until July 5.
