The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its search for Laniyah Whitted, a 22-year-old woman who has been missing since November 16, 2021. Whitted was last seen when she was 17 years old, after being dropped off at Cape Fear High School.
Search Efforts
As part of the ongoing investigation, Special Victims detectives with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting a search of the Cape Fear River along Deep Creek Road and the surrounding wooded areas. The search will include the assistance of K9 officers, search and rescue and drone teams, as well as detective and patrol officers on foot.
