A possible drowning call shut down part of Lake Ponca on Thursday, and police later recovered the body of a 61-year-old man, identified as Sean Whitby.
The Ponca City Police Department said first responders were called to the lake for a possible drowning, and the east side of the lake was closed and cleared of all boats.
The Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office was called to the scene. The lake was expected to be open as soon as the medical examiner cleared the scene on Thursday, police said.
