Bluegrass on Ballard Brings Music and Classic Cars to Wylie

Downtown Wylie, Texas, is set to host a vibrant celebration of music and classic automobiles with the return of the Bluegrass on Ballard festival on Saturday, May 30. This annual event, organized by the Wylie Downtown Merchants Association, City of Wylie, and Bluegrass Heritage Foundation, promises a full day of free entertainment in the city’s historic district.

Music and More

The festival will feature a lineup of nationally recognized bluegrass performers, including headliner The Grascals, who will take the stage at 5 p.m. Known for their rich history in bluegrass music, The Grascals gained early fame as an opening act and backing band for Dolly Parton. Their accolades include multiple International Bluegrass Music Association awards and Grammy nominations.

Other notable performers include Dave Adkins & Mountain Soul, with Adkins renowned for his dynamic vocal style and Grammy-nominated performances. Australian artist Kristy Cox, who recently topped the Billboard charts with her album “Let It Burn,” will also grace the stage, bringing her award-winning bluegrass sound to Wylie.

Classic Vehicles on Display

Complementing the musical festivities is the Bluegrass on Ballard Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Show, hosted by East Fork Masonic Lodge No. 650. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., classic and custom vehicles will line the streets of downtown Wylie, offering spectators a chance to admire a diverse array of cars, trucks, and motorcycles at no cost.

The festival encourages musicians to bring their instruments and join impromptu jam sessions throughout the day, adding to the community spirit and lively atmosphere. With arts and crafts vendors, food, and shopping opportunities, Bluegrass on Ballard is a family-friendly event that celebrates local culture and community engagement.

The festival is free to attend, making it an accessible and enjoyable outing for families and individuals alike. For more information and to support local journalism, consider subscribing to The Wylie News.
