Baltimore Summer Event Roundup: New Restaurants, Markets, and Festive Gatherings

As summer winds down and Labor Day weekend approaches, Baltimore’s restaurant and market scene remains lively. A packed calendar of openings, grand openings, and special events promises plenty of options for families and food lovers alike.

New Openings and Announcements

Candela Arepa Bar – the latest venture from the owners of Alma Cocina Latina, is now officially open, adding fresh Latin flavors to the city’s culinary landscape.

Flour & Wood has also opened its doors fully to the public, offering a rustic bakery and wood‑fired menu.

Hello Trouble, a new spot at Hamilton led by Chef Andrew Weinzirl, soft‑opened last weekend and is now welcoming diners.

Decatur Tavern will open for drinks only on Friday, Aug. 28, with limited hours and plans to add food service soon.

The Market at Hamilton celebrates its official grand opening on Friday, Aug. 28, with a ribbon‑cutting ceremony, samples, and festivities. The market also launches a monthly Tinned Fish Tuesday series on the fourth Tuesday of each month.

Nora Blu is popping champagne for a weekend‑long grand opening celebration beginning Friday.

Le Comptoir du Vin will pause for an end‑of‑summer break from Aug. 31 through Sept. 5, though its bottle shop remains open on Friday, Sept. 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Congratulations are in order for Red Pepper Sichuan Bistro, which marks seven years in Towson, and for ZaVino Italian Marketplace in Cross Keys, turning two with a giveaway of a free pizza each week for a year.

Unfortunately, Midlina and Poe’s Tower announced closures this week.

Weekend Markets and Celebrations

The Ekiben Night Market returns Saturday and Sunday on the 1500 block of Thames St., featuring a variety of food and drink vendors and drawing large crowds.

On Sunday, Aug. 30, The Milton Inn celebrates its fifth anniversary under current ownership with drinks, passed bites, live music, and birthday cake.

Also on Sunday, The Local Oyster partners with Monument City Brewing for a “Summer Throwdown & Seafood Feast,” offering tickets for an afternoon of seafood, drinks, and live music.

Special Dinner Events

Tuesday, Sept. 1, brings the Cinghiale wine dinner, featuring the owner and winemaker of Sori Paitin, a historic 230‑year‑old Barbaresco vineyard. Guests will enjoy a four‑course menu paired with Paitin wines, accompanied by a guided tasting and discussion.
