Newport Aquarium will celebrate World Oceans Day with a new summer festival beginning next month. The Seas the Summer event will feature unique experiences for guests of all ages, including a surfboard entrance, sandcastle building, and a dance party at the Shark Ray Bay Theater.
Conservation Efforts
The aquarium’s nonprofit partner, The Way Foundation, focuses on education, conservation, and volunteerism. They have reached over 450,000 people in the past 25 years and have cleaned up the river, removing 444 pounds of garbage from the Ohio River last year.
The Way Foundation is also working to reduce single-use plastics through their WAVE Water Warrior campaign. Guests can participate in the campaign by using reusable utensils, bags, and straws.
The Seas the Summer festival will run from July 3 through August 30. More festival programming and details will be released by the aquarium soon.
