Keenan Morgan Runs for Wyoming House District 58

CASPER, Wyo. — As the Aug. 18 primary election approaches, candidate Keenan Morgan is running for Wyoming House District 58. Morgan was asked about the most crucial challenges his constituents are facing.

Challenges Facing Constituents

Morgan stated that many issues are impacting Wyomingites, including a lack of educational and job opportunities, young people leaving the state, and issues of affordability. Additionally, there are concerns about cuts to essential services and the rise of emerging technologies.

In District 58, the impacts of cuts and emerging technologies are especially prevalent. The communities are impacted by decreases in funding, which make it harder to sustain services, particularly educational and emergency services. For example, in Bar Nunn, the school district decided to close the only school due to enrollment concerns tied to ‘saving costs.’ This is a devastating loss.

Addressing Challenges

If elected, Morgan would address these challenges by putting Wyoming First and fighting to move Wyoming Forward, which requires a proactive approach. Regarding the particular challenges facing District 58, Morgan is thinking of them in the following ways:

  • The Legislature should explore regulations on data center development so that they don’t dominate and control communities.
  • The Legislature can halt and reverse its efforts to implement unnecessary funding cuts that impact essential services.
  • The Legislature can explore new ways of raising funds to use for funding essential services and programs.

Morgan believes in listening to the community, fighting for people-centered solutions, and accountability. He recognizes that issues are rarely simply black and white, and understanding nuance is required to make real change last.
