Ravens confirm Derrick Henry will remain through trade deadline

The Baltimore Ravens have officially told the league that running back Derrick Henry will not be moved before the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 10. The 32‑year‑old veteran, a key piece of the team’s offense, remains under contract and is expected to stay in Baltimore as the franchise fights to salvage its season.

Why Henry matters for Baltimore

Henry’s presence is critical for a Ravens offense that has struggled with quarterback injuries and a four‑game losing streak, including a 33‑10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. After trading for veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett, the team hoped to stabilize the signal‑caller position, but the lack of a reliable running threat has hampered the offense.

“I have not mentioned me going anywhere else,” Henry said after the Jaguars loss. “I’m saying, ‘Let’s go back to work. Let’s try to get better and turn this thing around.’” His determination underscores the Ravens’ belief that keeping a proven ground‑game weapon is essential to competing for a playoff spot.

Quarterback turmoil adds urgency

Two‑time MVP Lamar Jackson is sidelined after thumb surgery, and backup Tyler “Snoop” Huntley suffered a turf‑toe injury that ends his season. Rookie quarterback Joe Fagnano stepped in for a 36‑10 defeat, prompting the Ravens to acquire Brissett in hopes of stabilizing the position.

With Jackson expected to miss at least four games, the Ravens are relying on Brissett to keep the offense competitive while the team works to return its star quarterback to health.

Trade rumors and other suitors

Despite speculation that former head coach John Harbaugh and the New York Giants might pursue Henry, the Ravens have made it clear that no trade discussions are underway. The Giants are reportedly focusing on running back Jonathan Taylor from the Indianapolis Colts, while New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel was also mentioned as a possible destination.

The league’s trade deadline looms, and while other teams may still explore options, Baltimore’s message is unequivocal: Henry stays.

Looking ahead

At 4‑5, the Ravens need a strong running game to complement Brissett’s passing and to give the defense breathing room. Keeping Henry in the backfield provides a chance to reverse the recent slide and keep Baltimore’s playoff aspirations alive.

Fans can expect Henry to lead the ground attack in the coming weeks, while the coaching staff works to get Jackson back on the field and to integrate Brissett into the offense.
