New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson announced Friday that he has spent several days in a hospital undergoing tests to determine the cause of unexplained neurological symptoms that have impacted his strength, coordination and overall physical function.
Health update and team response
Henderson, 24, shared a lengthy Instagram post stating that the test results have been “reassuring” in that they have not revealed any immediate danger, but the underlying medical condition remains unknown. He wrote, “I will continue working closely with my specialists and physical therapists to focus on my recovery, as these symptoms have affected my strength, coordination and some of my physical functions. I am committed to doing everything necessary to return to full health. My health and long-term well‑being remain my foremost priorities.”
The Patriots have not seen Henderson practice since Oct. 29, when he was listed as having an illness, and he was ruled out of the 24‑19 victory over Miami on Sunday. In his second season, Henderson has logged 203 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown and 45 receiving yards over six games, a sharp decline from his rookie year when he amassed 1,131 yards from scrimmage and ten touchdowns.
Coach Vrabel’s comments
Head coach Mike Vrabel said the organization is focused on providing emotional and informational support to Henderson and his wife, Mackenzie. “I know he is well‑loved and respected on our football team. My support shows up in a lot of different ways,” Vrabel explained. “To support him the best way I know is to care for him, listen to him and do whatever we can to get him healthy and get him back and help this football team, and do what he does best.”
Vrabel added that it would be premature and unfair to discuss placing Henderson on the long‑term injured list at this stage. The Patriots will also be without receiver A.J. Brown, who missed practice due to ankle and knee injuries, while tight end Hunter Henry (foot) and cornerback Marcus Jones (foot) remain questionable for upcoming games.
Patriots’ running back depth
In Henderson’s absence, the Patriots rely on veteran back Rhamondre Stevenson to lead a three‑back rotation that also includes Corey Kiner and Lan Larison. The coaching staff emphasized that the depth chart will remain flexible as they monitor each player’s health status.
Community and fan support
Henderson concluded his message by requesting continued prayers and privacy for his family during this challenging time, reflecting the strong faith and community ties that many Patriots fans hold dear. “Love Trey,” he wrote.
The Patriots organization encourages supporters to respect the family’s privacy while keeping the player in their thoughts as he works toward a full recovery.
