Arizona softball welcomed a standout performance from freshman Lilly Hauser during the most recent Red‑Blue scrimmage. Though she missed the program’s first scrimmage and the doubleheader against UTEP, Hauser quickly proved her value both on the mound and at the plate after debuting just two weeks ago.
Offensive contribution
Hauser went 1‑for‑4 at the plate, driving a double to the wall against senior teammate Ryley Harrison. The hit added to the Blue team’s offensive surge that helped secure a 10‑3 win on Friday evening.
Pitching performance
Entering the game in the bottom of the fourth, Hauser pitched four innings without allowing a run. She faced some of Arizona’s most experienced hitters, limiting them to four hits. Notable opponents included Sydney Stewart, who went 0‑2, Regan Shockey, who was 1‑2 with a strikeout, and Elizabeth Moffitt, who went 0‑2.
Her composure on the mound contrasted with the Red team’s early success. Red pitcher Harrison surrendered three runs on seven hits, including solo home runs by Grace Jenkins and an RBI single by Madison Conley.
Supporting pitchers
Jenae Berry started for the Blue team, while Harrison opened for the Red. Both were later relieved—Berry by Adams in the third inning and Harrison by Jalen Adams after four innings. Adams also appeared for the Red team later in the game, delivering two innings of scoreless work before returning in the seventh to face a high‑pressure situation.
In her Red‑team appearance, Adams gave up a single and a walk but kept the damage limited with a flyout, a caught stealing, and a fielder’s choice. When she re‑entered in the seventh with two on and one out, she allowed three RBI doubles before finishing the inning.
Key offensive highlights
Grace Jenkins led the day with a 3‑for‑4 line that featured two solo home runs. Kez Lucas contributed a single, a home run, and three RBI, while Madison Conley posted a 2‑for‑3 effort with a double and an RBI. Each side had a decisive inning: Red opened strong with a three‑run first, while Blue closed the game with a seven‑run seventh inning.
Looking ahead
The Wildcats will return for a third Red‑Blue scrimmage on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 10 a.m. MST. The fall schedule continues with a fourth scrimmage on Thursday, Nov. 12, at 6:30 p.m., followed by a game against UNLV on Friday, Nov. 13, at 10 a.m. All fall games are free to the public.
Pitchers Kaylan Yoder and Rylie Holder did not appear in this scrimmage, but the remaining 19 Wildcats took the field, showcasing the depth of the program as the season progresses.
