Baltimore’s Eubie Blake Center Launches ‘Culture on Wheels’ Exhibit Showcasing Bike Life Artists and Engineers

The Eubie Blake Cultural Center in downtown Baltimore is set to open a new multimedia exhibition, Culture on Wheels: Power. Escape. Ride., on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2026. The show will run through Saturday, Jan. 9, 2027, offering residents a fresh look at the city’s vibrant bike‑life culture.

Local nonprofits bring art and engineering together

Gallery Reimagined partnered with B‑360 and the Eubie Blake Center to produce the exhibit. B‑360, a Baltimore nonprofit founded by Brittany Young, uses dirt‑bike culture to teach STEM skills and create career pathways for city youth. The Eubie Blake Center, a historic hub for African‑American artistic legacy since 2000, provides the venue for this community‑focused event.

Artists and curators celebrate bike‑life creators

Featured artist Aaron Maybin, a Baltimore native and former NFL player, contributes mixed‑media portraits of local riders that anchor the exhibition. Veteran Baltimore artist Larry “Poncho” Brown serves as curator, guiding visitors through photography, painting, sculpture, video and an immersive installation that highlight the technical ingenuity and storytelling of bike‑life participants.

“Power, Escape, Ride” – a mission to reshape the narrative

“Culture on Wheels isn’t just an exhibition; it’s a mission to give riders power over their narrative, using art as a tool to transcend stereotypes,” said Khateeta Emerson, founder of Gallery Reimagined and former chemical engineer. Emerson emphasized that the project aims to connect audiences with under‑represented communities and showcase the resilience of Baltimore’s bike‑life scene.

Connecting neighborhoods and youth

The exhibition engages neighborhoods with deep ties to dirt‑bike culture, including West Baltimore’s Sandtown‑Winchester, Penn North and Upton, as well as East Baltimore’s Middle East, Oliver and Broadway East. Programming includes youth workshops, panel discussions and STEM‑and‑art activities developed with B‑360, giving young riders hands‑on experience as engineers and mechanics.

Historical context and local pride

Baltimore has long been celebrated as the “dirt‑bike capital of the world,” a reputation cemented by documentaries such as 12 O’Clock Boys and the feature film Charm City Kings. The new exhibit builds on that legacy, spotlighting community organizing, mentorship and technical skill that keep bike‑life thriving.

Visit the exhibition

The Eubie Blake Cultural Center is located at 847 N. Howard St., Baltimore. Admission details and a schedule of public events are available on the Center’s website. Residents are encouraged to attend, support local artists and explore how creativity and engineering intersect in Baltimore’s unique bike‑life culture.
