Redding City Council Races Remain Too Close to Call as Ballot Count Continues

The latest figures released by the Shasta County Elections Office show that the race for three seats on the Redding City Council is still too close to call. While incumbent Russ Wenham and challenger Tenessa Audette continue to hold strong leads, the margin between them and their nearest competitors is narrow enough that the final result will depend on the remaining ballots.

Current standings

Wenham, a longtime council member, leads his race by a comfortable but not insurmountable margin. Audette, a community activist, also maintains a solid lead. In the third council contest, Mark Mezzano’s advantage over Christina Prosperi has widened slightly, yet only about 700 votes separate the two candidates, with many thousands of ballots still to be counted.

Other local contests

In the neighboring City of Shasta Lake, candidates Justin Jones and Pamelyn Morgan continue to hold strong leads for the two open council seats. Over in Anderson, Stan Neutze remains ahead of Lexus Alexander, though Alexander trails by roughly 200 votes to Amarjit Singh.

For Shasta County’s District 5 seat on the Board of Supervisors, Mike Gallagher leads Chris Kelstrom by roughly 1,000 votes, a gap that could shift as the count progresses.

School board and education board races

The Shasta County Office of Education Board has two seats up for election in Area 2. Incumbents Bruce Ross and Michele Tyson retain their leads, while Nancy Walker trails by about a hundred votes. In the second set of Area 2 seats, incumbents Arthur Gorman and Teresa Roberts also keep their advantages.

Ballot measures

Measure E continues to pass, while Measure F remains in a failing position according to the latest tallies.

Ballot count progress

The elections office estimates that roughly 35,000 ballots have been processed so far, with an additional nearly 29,000 still awaiting tabulation. That suggests about 64,000 Shasta residents have cast ballots in this election, a figure roughly 10,000 lower than the Shasta Scout’s own analysis predicts.

Because a substantial number of ballots remain uncounted, officials caution that the current leads are provisional. The Shasta County Elections Office has not issued a formal press release accompanying these numbers, but the data are publicly available for residents to review.

What voters should watch

With the count still underway, voters are encouraged to stay informed through the official Shasta election results portal. As the remaining ballots are processed, the margins in each race could shift, potentially altering the composition of the Redding City Council and other local governing bodies.
