GREEN BAY, Wis. – The City of Green Bay is reaching out to residents, businesses and anyone who uses the city’s streets to help craft a comprehensive traffic safety action plan. The effort includes an open‑house style public meeting and an online survey that will remain open through Nov. 20.
Public meeting details
The meeting will be held Monday, 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Titletown Brewing Company, 320 N. Broadway. Attendees can drop in at any time during the window to view exhibits, ask questions of city staff and submit their ideas for improving road safety. City leaders have indicated they hope to hold a second public‑involvement session next year to continue gathering feedback.
Online survey
For those unable to attend in person, the city has launched an online questionnaire that asks about personal experiences with traffic, perceived problem areas and suggestions for change. The survey will close on Nov. 20, giving the community a two‑week window to contribute.
City’s goals
“We’re committed to improving transportation safety throughout Green Bay,” said Kiki Sanchez, the city’s planning manager, in a news release. “We want to hear from residents, businesses and others who use our roads so we can better understand safety concerns, identify opportunities for improvement and develop strategies to prevent serious crashes and ultimately save lives.”
The proposed action plan will examine a range of measures, including better signage, enhanced crosswalk lighting, speed‑calming designs and education campaigns aimed at drivers, pedestrians and cyclists. While specific projects have not yet been finalized, the city’s approach emphasizes data‑driven solutions and community partnership.
Why community input matters
Traffic safety is a shared responsibility, and local officials stress that input from everyday road users can reveal hidden hazards that data alone might miss. Residents who have experienced near‑misses, frequent congestion or unsafe intersections are encouraged to describe those experiences in the survey or during the open house.
City staff will compile the feedback, compare it with existing crash data and work with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to prioritize actions that align with state safety standards.
Next steps
After the public‑input phase concludes, the planning department will draft a formal traffic safety action plan for review by the City Council. The council is expected to consider the plan during its regular meeting cycle later this year, with implementation potentially beginning in early 2027.
Green Bay residents who wish to participate can view the survey online at the city’s official website or attend the meeting at Titletown Brewing Company. The city encourages anyone with a stake in safer streets to join the conversation and help shape a safer future for the community.
