Lewisville Independent School District announced Monday that Nathan Hawes will serve as the next principal of Lamar Middle School, located in Flower Mound. Hawes, a familiar face to the campus, previously worked as an associate principal at Lewisville High School before returning to the middle school where he began his administrative career.
Career rooted in Lewisville ISD
Hawes started his career with the district in 2001 as a coach and science teacher at Lewisville High School. He later became a strategic design coach and, in 2015, moved into administration as an assistant principal at Lamar Middle School. Over the past 25 years, he has held a variety of instructional and leadership positions, all within Lewisville ISD.
Commitment to students, staff and families
“Coming back to Lamar feels like coming home,” Hawes said in a statement. “I am honored to serve as its next principal and look forward to working alongside the incredible Lamar students, staff and families to continue to achieve great things.” The district highlighted his dedication to student growth, staff support and community connection as key reasons for his selection.
Superintendent’s endorsement
LISD Superintendent Dr. Lori Rapp praised Hawes, noting, “We are thrilled for Mr. Hawes to step into the role of principal at Lamar Middle School. He is a proven student‑centered leader with an unwavering commitment to building strong relationships with students, staff and families.”
Educational background
Hawes earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Abilene Christian University. In 2023, he was named a finalist for the district’s Assistant Principal of the Year award, underscoring his recognized contributions to the schools he has served.
Looking ahead
As principal, Hawes will oversee curriculum implementation, staff development and community outreach at Lamar Middle School. The district expects his experience and familiarity with the school’s culture to support continued academic achievement and a safe, nurturing environment for all students.
Lewisville ISD’s announcement reflects the district’s ongoing focus on stable, experienced leadership in its schools, reinforcing its commitment to quality education for families throughout the Flower Mound and greater Lewisville area.
