Goodwill Industries of Northwest Texas, in partnership with Lubbock National Bank, is inviting Lubbock residents to a free Shred Day on Friday, November 13, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event, announced by KCBD and echoed by Fox 34, provides a convenient way for community members to securely dispose of personal documents while supporting local recycling efforts.
Two collection sites will be open for the day. Lubbock National Bank will host one site at 4811 50th Street, and a second site will be located at the Goodwill Career Resource Center, 6520 University Avenue, Suite 11. Residents may bring up to four boxes of papers, folders, or other personal documents, and there is no requirement to remove staples or paper clips, according to the KCBD report.
All documents gathered will be placed in locked bins and transported to Goodwill’s Document Destruction facility. The facility is NAID certified and HIPAA compliant, and operates under 24‑hour surveillance, ensuring that personal information is destroyed securely, as detailed by both KCBD and Fox 34.
Beyond environmental benefits, the shredding service supports Goodwill’s broader mission. The organization notes that its document‑destruction operations create employment opportunities for individuals facing barriers to work, linking responsible recycling with job creation in the community.
What’s next: Lubbock residents who wish to declutter safely should plan to visit one of the two sites on November 13 between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The event coincides with National Recycling Day, underscoring the city’s commitment to sustainable practices and personal data protection.
