The Hank Poore Foundation is hosting its sixth annual Ale On Wheels fundraiser this Friday, October 30, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Buddy Powell Pavilion, 4205 Northridge Road in Tuscaloosa. The event is designed to be family‑friendly, with activities for children and a Halloween costume encouragement for all attendees.
Live Entertainment and Food Options
Local singer‑songwriter Matt Jones will open the evening with an acoustic set, followed by a performance from Birmingham’s The Negotiators. Organizers recommend bringing a blanket or lawn chair for comfortable seating on the pavilion lawn.
Four food trucks will serve dinner: Urban Cookhouse, The Corn King, Pastor’s Mexican Kitchen, and Sage & Honey Coffee. Adams Beverages will provide a selection of beer, including non‑alcoholic options, as well as wine and complimentary Pepsi products.
Ticket Information
Tickets can be purchased in advance through the Zeffy platform via the link provided in the original announcement, and additional tickets will be available at the gate on the night of the event.
Supporting Adaptive Athletics
The fundraiser supports the Hank Poore Foundation’s mission to expand adaptive athletic and recreation opportunities for Alabamians with disabilities. Founded in 2020 by Hank Poore, who lives with cerebral palsy, the foundation has already distributed more than $450,000 in adaptive equipment across the state through grant programs.
One 2026 grant recipient, who chose to remain unnamed, used the award to purchase a sport wheelchair. “Being able to purchase my own chair means I can continue playing this sport that I love so much for years to come,” the recipient said. “My life has changed for the better since I joined this sport last fall. It has brought me so much joy, confidence, and allowed me to play sports again for the first time since I was diagnosed with Friedreich’s ataxia in 2018. It has allowed me to form incredible relationships with my teammates and grow as a man and a leader. Not to mention, soccer motivates me to stay active and fight against disease progression.”
How to Get Involved
Grant applications and donation information are available on the foundation’s website at hankpoorefoundation.org. Community members who wish to support the cause can attend the Ale On Wheels event, make a direct donation, or volunteer with the foundation’s programs throughout the year.
