Louisville mayoral candidates make final appeals ahead of early voting

With early voting now open for the November 3 Louisville mayoral election, the two remaining candidates used the final days of the campaign to address voters directly. Incumbent Mayor Craig Greenberg and Metro Councilwoman Shameka Parrish‑Wright, both registered Democrats, outlined their visions for the city’s next four years.

Greenberg stresses transparency and continuity

Mayor Greenberg highlighted the transparent government he says he has built over his first term. “I go in front of the media all the time. I have started a weekly press conference so that every week the media could ask any questions they want in public, dealing with the community all of the time,” he told reporters. Greenberg argued that this openness has helped the city address violence prevention and the housing crisis, priorities shared by both campaigns.

He added, “I would be honored, and I would really relish the opportunity to have four more years to work for this great city, to continue to make improvements.” Greenberg’s message focused on continuity, urging voters to keep the momentum he says his administration has generated.

Parrish‑Wright offers a hopeful, progressive alternative

Councilwoman Parrish‑Wright framed the election as a chance for renewed hope. “Too many people in Louisville are hopeless. And so I think that this campaign has sparked hope and change,” she said. She noted that the race’s stakes are higher after former mayor‑candidate Charles Booker entered the Senate race, leaving the mayoral field open for her renewed bid.

Parrish‑Wright promised to focus on every zip code, stating, “If they give me a chance, we not only got four years; I’ll run again for the next four years to give us that opportunity to work the vision of ensuring that Louisville is heard. There are opportunities in every zip code.”

Election mechanics and nonpartisan ballot

Jefferson County officials reminded residents that Louisville’s mayoral and Metro Council races are nonpartisan under Kentucky state law. Although both candidates identify as Democrats, party affiliation will not appear on the ballot, and voters must manually select their preferred candidate.

Early voting runs through the first week of November, giving residents ample time to cast their ballots before the November 3 election day. The city’s election office has posted polling locations and hours on its website, and volunteers are on hand to assist voters with any questions.

Local issues at the forefront

Both candidates emphasized violence prevention and housing affordability as top priorities. Greenberg pointed to initiatives launched during his term, while Parrish‑Wright called for expanded community programs and increased investment in affordable housing units.

Community leaders have expressed support for the focus on safety and housing, noting that Louisville’s neighborhoods have seen both progress and setbacks in recent years. The upcoming election will determine which approach the city’s residents endorse as they look toward the next four years of governance.

What voters can expect

Voters should review each candidate’s platform, attend any remaining town‑hall events, and consider how each vision aligns with their own priorities for Louisville’s future. With early voting underway, the city’s electorate has a clear opportunity to make their voices heard before the final election day.
