The African Children’s Choir, a world‑renowned Christian ensemble, is bringing its uplifting music and message of hope to northeast Indiana next week. On Wednesday, November 4, at 6:30 p.m., the choir will perform a free concert at the Columbia City Church of the Nazarene, located at 506 N. Main Street.
What to Expect
The traveling group features 18 children from Uganda, ages nine to twelve, who will present a blend of traditional African songs, gospel hymns, and spirituals. Accompanied by live African instruments, dancing, and storytelling, the program includes beloved numbers such as “Amazing Grace,” “Oh Happy Day,” and “River of Life.” Each piece combines energetic performance with messages of faith and encouragement, reflecting the choir’s Christian foundation.
Community Connection
During their stay, the children will live with local host families, giving both the visitors and residents a chance to share customs, food, and culture. Organizers note that many of the singers come from vulnerable backgrounds and have faced limited access to education. The experience aims to provide life‑changing opportunities that help shape these young people into future leaders.
“The African Children’s Choir proves just how powerful music can be,” said choir manager Tina Sipp. “These concerts not only provide hope and encouragement to our audiences, but they offer the children life‑changing experiences that help shape them into future leaders.”
Supporting a Christian Mission
The choir is part of Music for Life, an international Christian organization dedicated to education, leadership development, and other opportunities for vulnerable children throughout Africa. While admission is free, donations will be accepted during the performance to support Music for Life’s educational programs and ongoing work.
Local residents are invited to attend with family and friends, enjoy a night of inspiring music, and consider supporting the choir’s mission. For more information about the concert and the choir’s broader work, visit africanchildrenschoir.com.
