Henderson, Nev. – The Henderson Silver Knights are turning two upcoming home games into a community‑service opportunity. On Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7, fans who bring unopened, nonperishable food items to the Lee’s Family Forum tiltyard or the M Resort entrance will receive an exclusive Silver Knights poster while supplies last.
All donated food will be delivered to CARE Complex, a local nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness throughout Southern Nevada. The organization provides emergency shelter, case management, and long‑term housing solutions for families and individuals in need.
“Our team believes in giving back to the community that supports us,” said Silver Knights General Manager John Doe. “By pairing a night of hockey with a food‑drive, we can rally fans, families, and local businesses around a cause that aligns with our shared values of faith, family, and personal responsibility.”
The Silver Knights will face the San Diego Gulls on both nights, offering fans a chance to enjoy high‑energy hockey while supporting a vital charitable mission. The team encourages families to bring items such as canned vegetables, boxed meals, pasta, and other shelf‑stable foods.
How to Participate
Fans should arrive early to the designated drop‑off points – the Lee’s Family Forum tiltyard and the M Resort entrance – to ensure their contributions are counted before the gates close. Volunteers from CARE Complex will be on site to receive donations, sort items, and thank contributors.
In addition to the poster incentive, the Silver Knights will feature a short video tribute to CARE Complex during the intermission, highlighting the impact of community donations on local families facing housing insecurity.
Why It Matters
Homelessness remains a pressing issue in Southern Nevada, with thousands of residents relying on emergency shelters each year. CARE Complex reports that every donated food box helps stretch limited resources, allowing the organization to serve more families and keep children fed during transitional periods.
By partnering with a popular sports franchise, CARE Complex hopes to reach a broader audience, especially young families who attend games and may be looking for ways to serve their neighbors. The initiative reflects the broader tradition of local teams stepping up as civic leaders, reinforcing the bond between athletics, faith, and the family unit.
Looking Ahead
The Silver Knights plan to make the food drive an annual tradition, with future games earmarked for additional charitable causes. Fans are encouraged to follow the team’s social media channels for updates on upcoming community events and ways to get involved.
