Henderson, Nev. – The Foundation Assisting Seniors, a nonprofit that provides free medical equipment, wellness support and daily check‑in calls to adults 50 and older, has almost doubled its facility to meet the rising demand from Clark County’s senior community.
According to recent census data, seniors comprise nearly 40 percent of Clark County’s population. Recognizing that surge, the organization expanded its Henderson location at 2518 Anthem Village Drive, Suite 110, adding more space for storage, distribution and counseling services.
Expanded services reach more seniors and veterans
The larger footprint enables the foundation to serve a broader segment of the Las Vegas Valley, including veterans who qualify for the same free resources. Equipment such as walkers, commodes, hospital beds and respiratory aids are provided at no cost, and the nonprofit’s wellness team offers personalized guidance on using the devices safely.
“For me personally, it’s been life‑changing to see these people come in and to see them needing these supplies and the services that we provide,” said Janice Barragan, Community Relations and Development Coordinator for the foundation. “You see how thankful and how grateful they are that we were there for them and to help them when they needed it the most.”
Stories of impact
Local resident Jerry Hartman shared how the foundation’s assistance helped his wife recover after a complicated surgery. “She had a surgery that went bad and was in ICU for three months, and this foundation provided us with all the tools that we needed to make the transition from rehab to home rehab,” Hartman explained. “She was five months post‑op, couldn’t walk, had a dropped foot. All her muscles had deteriorated, and she’s now walking with the walker that they provided. She’s able to use the commode they gave her, and she’s just doing great.”
The daily wellness check program also offers peace of mind for seniors living alone. Annette Held, a local senior, said, “I live alone, and it’s nice to have the security of knowing I’m going to get a phone call every morning to check on me. It is real security just to know I get that call every morning. I go to bed feeling good about it. At least I know I’m not going to be lying on the floor for twelve hours till somebody checks on me.”
Open house invites community to see the new space
To celebrate the expansion, the foundation is holding a public open house on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents are welcome to tour the new facilities, meet staff and learn how to access services, volunteer or donate. For more information, call 725‑244‑4200 or visit the foundation’s website.
The expansion underscores the nonprofit’s commitment to supporting Nevada’s aging population, a demographic that continues to grow and that relies heavily on community‑based health resources. By offering essential equipment and regular wellness outreach, the Foundation Assisting Seniors helps seniors maintain independence, dignity and quality of life.
