Broken Arrow High School’s celebrated marching band brought home a top honor over the weekend, claiming first place at a Bands of America (BOA) regional competition in St. Louis. The victory adds another shining chapter to the program’s long tradition of excellence on the national marching arts stage.
The BOA regional series is one of the most prestigious circuits in high school marching band, drawing top programs from across the country to compete in demanding, adjudicated events that evaluate musical performance, visual design, and overall execution. Earning the top spot in St. Louis is a testament to the hard work of Broken Arrow’s student musicians, color guard members, drum majors, and the dedicated directors and staff who guide them.
The Tiger band, as it is affectionately known throughout the community, has long been a source of enormous pride for Broken Arrow. Thousands of hours of early-morning rehearsals, after-school practice sessions, and weekend commitments go into crafting a competitive show each season — and results like this weekend’s St. Louis victory make that dedication worthwhile for everyone involved.
For students in the program, competing at the BOA level offers experiences that extend well beyond the football field or competition floor. The travel, teamwork, and pursuit of a shared artistic goal create bonds and memories that last a lifetime. Parents, alumni, and community supporters who made the trip to St. Louis or followed along from home had every reason to cheer.
The win also keeps Broken Arrow’s band in strong contention as the fall season moves toward its climax. BOA Grand Nationals, held annually in Indianapolis, represents the pinnacle of high school marching band competition, and a regional championship is an encouraging sign heading into that ultimate showcase.
Broken Arrow residents can look forward to more opportunities to see the band perform as the season continues. In the meantime, congratulations are in order for every student, staff member, and family who helped make this St. Louis victory possible — you’ve made the Rose District proud.
