Wright’s Farm Restaurant in Harrisville — technically just over the Burrillville line, about 35 minutes northwest of Warwick’s waterfront — seats 1,400 people at a time. That number stops most locals cold the first time they hear it. This is not a banquet hall that occasionally does chicken dinners. It is a restaurant that has run the same menu, in the same building, since 1972, and on a busy Friday night it will serve upward of 3,000 people between 4 p.m. and closing.
The concept is Rhode Island–style family chicken, which means you don’t order off a menu. You sit down at a long communal table, and food comes to you: a platter of oven-roasted chicken, a bowl of pasta with red sauce, rolls, and french fries. The chicken is the point. It’s cooked in rotating gas ovens, comes out juicy with slightly crisp skin, and arrives in portions sized for a table of eight whether you’re a party of three or not. You eat what you want and pass the rest.
Drinks and dessert are the only things you pick yourself. The bar is cash-friendly, pours heavy, and keeps lines short even on crowded nights. Coffee comes automatically. If you want cannoli or spumoni, flag down one of the servers who have, in many cases, been working here for decades.
Pricing runs around $20–$24 per adult for the full chicken dinner as of recent visits, which makes it one of the better values for a full sit-down meal in the region. Kids’ plates are cheaper. There’s no tipping pressure, though the staff earns it.
The best nights to go from Warwick are Thursday and Friday, when wait times are manageable and the dining rooms don’t hit full chaos. Saturday is the hardest night — lines can stretch outside the building, and you may wait 45 minutes to an hour before you’re seated. If you go on a Saturday, put your name in and then use the time at the bar. The gift shop sells Wright’s-branded items and Rhode Island novelties, and it’s genuinely stocked, not an afterthought.
The building itself looks like what it is: a converted chicken farm that got very, very large. There’s nothing designed about it. The dining rooms are functional, the lighting is bright, the tables are close together. You will hear the conversations happening next to you. That’s part of the deal — Wright’s is loud, communal, and completely unpretentious about it.
From Warwick, take Route 117 west through Coventry and Scituate. The drive takes you through some genuinely rural Rhode Island, which most people don’t expect to find twenty minutes from T.F. Green. Wright’s Farm sits on 102 Inman Road in Harrisville, with a large gravel parking lot that somehow still fills up on peak nights.
If you grew up in Rhode Island, you’ve almost certainly been here for a birthday dinner or a Little League banquet. If you haven’t been in a while, or you’re new to the state and haven’t gone yet, Wright’s is one of those places that earns its reputation every time it puts chicken on the table.
