Montgomery residents can look forward to a unique cultural event this fall as the historic Capri Theater will host “A Night of Poe” on Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7, according to Yellowhammer News. The immersive evening will feature three 90‑minute shows each night at 6 p.m., 8 p.m., and 10 p.m., blending theatrical storytelling, live music, and specially paired cocktails.
The production promises to bring Edgar Allan Poe’s most famous tales to life in a “hauntingly immersive” setting. Over the course of each 90‑minute performance, actors, musicians, and performers will weave reimagined stories, atmospheric soundscapes, and theatrical moments that draw audiences into Poe’s world of mystery, madness, and the macabre, as described in the event’s trailer.
Tickets are priced at $65 each and can be purchased through the Fever ticketing platform. Because the event includes themed cocktails, attendees must be at least 21 years old. The Capri Theater, located at 1045 E. Fairview Avenue in Montgomery’s historic Cloverdale district, is the longest continually operating movie theater in Alabama, having opened in 1941 as “The Clover Theater.” It now serves as Montgomery’s only independent, nonprofit cinema, offering independent, foreign, and classic films as well as community events and educational programming.
Edgar Allan Poe (January 19, 1809 – October 7, 1849) is celebrated as an American writer and poet best known for his tales of mystery and the macabre. He pioneered detective fiction and early science‑fiction storytelling, and his 1845 poem “The Raven” achieved instant success. The upcoming shows aim to honor Poe’s legacy by translating his iconic works into a live, interactive experience for modern audiences.
What’s next: Tickets are currently on sale, and interested residents are encouraged to purchase early, as seating may fill quickly. The event runs only the first weekend of November, with three performances each night. For further details and ticket purchases, visit the Night of Poe Montgomery page on Fever.
