Columbus residents gained two additional early‑voting precincts on Saturday, expanding the city’s options to five locations through the October 30 deadline, according to WTVM. The new sites are the Valley Health Center and the former Georgia Military campus on Blackmon Road, each operating from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Valley Health Center is being used for early voting for the first time. A poll worker confirmed the site will stay open for the final six days of Georgia’s early‑voting period. The former Georgia Military campus, already serving voters, continues its regular hours.
Local voters praised the added convenience. Grady Mons, a Columbus resident, said, “They need to have it here more often. Every time voting needs to happen, have it here at this precinct, because it’s closer for everybody in the community.” Asante Hilts added, “Having voting here at Valley Healthcare makes it easier. It’s convenient. It shows that our city is willing to go above and beyond to give us more voting locations.” Larraine Bordeaux noted, “I appreciate that they did give it over here because it’s more convenient for me as well because I go to the clinic here.”
Early‑voting turnout in Muscogee County has been strong. The Muscogee County Elections and Registrations Facebook page reported that more than 20,000 ballots had been cast as of Friday, indicating robust participation ahead of the November election.
City officials emphasized that the expanded early‑voting network aims to reduce lines on Election Day and provide greater accessibility for all residents, especially those who rely on nearby services such as the Valley Health Center.
What’s next: Early voting in Columbus will continue until October 30. Residents who have not yet voted can visit any of the five precincts—Valley Health Center, the former Georgia Military campus, and the three existing locations—during the 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. window. Additional information about hours and locations is available on the Muscogee County elections website.
