Arlington, TX – The Java House Grand Prix of Arlington announced a partnership with Arlington Independent School District aimed at introducing students to the many career paths that support a major sporting event. The collaboration will give students real‑world experience and direct access to professionals working behind the scenes of the race.
Connecting classroom learning to the race track
Through a series of career‑exploration activities, students will engage with experts from marketing, communications, partnerships, creative services, event operations and other disciplines that keep the Grand Prix running. The program is designed to tie classroom concepts to practical, hands‑on learning, helping students see how academic subjects translate into viable jobs.
Statements from partners
“The City of Arlington is at the heart of everything we do, and one of our goals is to make sure the community feels a sense of pride and ownership around our race,” said Troy Yarborough, President of the Java House Grand Prix of Arlington. “We believe major events like ours have a responsibility to create positive impact that extends beyond race weekend. Alongside Arlington ISD, we are building direct pathways for students to get real‑world experience and direct access to professionals in a way we hope excites them to continue their education and consider a future career in motorsports.”
Arlington ISD Career and Technical Education Coordinator Sara Mahoney added, “Arlington ISD is excited to officially partner with the Java House Grand Prix after the first year was such a success. Last year, students across multiple pathways—including transportation, construction, hospitality, marketing and more—engaged with experts who worked on bringing the racing world to life here in Arlington. They also visited the Grand Prix on the first race day. We are thrilled that more students will now receive exposure to this unique industry through the official partnership and year‑long activities.”
First program kicks off Oct. 27
The partnership will launch with a session titled “The Business of Motorsports” on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Students will hear directly from professionals involved in the event’s planning and execution, followed by interactive breakout sessions that dive deeper into specific career tracks.
Looking ahead to the 2027 race
The Java House Grand Prix will return to Arlington’s Entertainment District March 19‑21, 2027, bringing world‑class racing and community‑focused experiences to fans from across North Texas and beyond. The partnership ensures that local youth will have a front‑row seat to the industry’s inner workings, fostering the next generation of leaders, creators and innovators.
