Pueblo, Colo. – Pueblo Transit announced a significant service expansion that will begin on Monday, Oct. 19. The transit agency is adding longer and more reliable hours on three of its routes, a move made possible by more than $1 million in funding from the Clean Transit Enterprise Grant.
Grant money fuels local mobility improvements
The City of Pueblo confirmed that the grant will be used to update service hours, helping to increase availability and access for riders across the city. “These service improvements will provide riders with longer and more consistent service hours,” said Ben Valdez, Director of Pueblo Transit, in a press release. “This expansion of hours is creating additional opportunities for residents to access employment, education, medical appointments, shopping and other essential community services.”
What the expanded routes mean for Pueblo families
By extending service on the three routes, the transit system aims to reach residents who previously could not rely on public transportation because of limited hours. Officials expect the changes to boost ridership, giving more people the ability to travel to work, school, health clinics and grocery stores without needing a personal vehicle.
The expanded hours are part of a broader effort by Pueblo officials to improve mobility for all citizens, especially those in lower‑income neighborhoods who depend on reliable transit. The grant aligns with the city’s goal of fostering a more connected community while supporting economic growth.
