As the new school year approaches, Allentown students are heading back to class with a little extra support — thanks to two generous community efforts that delivered supplies, smiles, and the gift of music to hundreds of local families.
The Salvation Army handed out backpacks and school supplies to hundreds of Allentown families, giving kids the tools they need to start the year off right. The annual giveaway is a beloved community tradition that eases the financial burden on families and ensures students arrive on the first day of school ready to learn.
In a separate — and especially creative — act of generosity, the Pennsylvania Treasury donated unclaimed musical instruments to an Allentown middle school. The instruments came through the state’s unclaimed property program, which collects items that go unclaimed by their original owners.
