With the new school year just around the corner, San Antonio families have a helpful resource to lean on: free school supplies are available at multiple locations across the city, according to the San Antonio Report.

The guide, published Friday, July 17, points residents toward opportunities to pick up the notebooks, pencils, backpacks, and other essentials that can add up quickly on a family’s budget before the first bell rings. Events and distribution sites across San Antonio are opening their doors to make sure every student can start the year prepared and ready to learn.

Back-to-school supply drives and giveaways have long been a beloved community tradition in San Antonio, bringing together nonprofits, local businesses, faith communities, and volunteers who want to ease the financial strain on parents and caregivers. These efforts reflect the generous spirit that defines the Alamo City, ensuring that no child has to walk into a classroom without the tools they need to succeed.

Whether families are looking for a single backpack or a full set of supplies, the San Antonio Report’s roundup serves as a one-stop guide to finding help nearby. Parents and guardians are encouraged to check the listings, note dates and locations, and take advantage of these community-driven giveaways while supplies last.

It’s a timely reminder that even in a busy news week, San Antonio neighbors continue showing up for one another — and for the next generation of students heading back to school.
