The Aspen Suites Hotel Anchorage Downtown has reopened following a multi-month renovation that began after the property was acquired by Aspen Hotels last October. Work on the 91-room building focused on modernizing the facility and preparing it to welcome guests under new management.
Guest rooms and common areas were refreshed as part of the upgrade, with attention to comfort and functionality. The redesign aimed to improve the overall visitor experience, updating finishes and amenities while maintaining the building’s role as a convenient downtown lodging option.
A new cultural partnership brings artwork from the Anchorage Museum into the hotel, placing works by local artists throughout public spaces and corridors. In addition, the property now offers a penthouse-style artist residency: a private suite where visiting Alaska artists can stay and use the space for creative work during their time in Anchorage.
The reopening is one component of Aspen Hotels’ broader growth in the state. The company now operates 16 properties across Alaska and says it plans further renovations and openings through the first half of 2026 as it expands its regional footprint.
Hotel leaders say the combination of updated guest services and a stronger connection to the local arts scene is intended to make the Aspen Suites Hotel Anchorage Downtown more appealing to travelers and to support Anchorage’s creative community by providing workspace, visibility and collaboration opportunities for Alaska artists.
